If you Don&#8217;t Have One You&#8217;re Acting Dumb."},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">Marketing Planning.\u00a0Quick&#8230; grab your marketing plan.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Okay&#8230; for those of you who have nothing to grab, I am going to tell you something you may not want to hear. Your behavior is dumb. \u00a0You&#8217;re not dumb, but not having a marketing plan is.<a href=\"http:\/\/salesjumpstart.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Mike-closing2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-255\" alt=\"Mike closing2\" src=\"http:\/\/salesjumpstart.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Mike-closing2.jpg\" width=\"127\" height=\"118\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I communicate with a bunch of small business owners every week. \u00a0 You know the number one question that gets asked about, in one form or another, it\u2019s about how do I sell my stuff.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Lot\u2019s of businesses ask about and are interested in social media to develop new relationships and leads. Some are looking at email as a tactic. Lot\u2019s like the SEO \u00a0or search engine marketing route.\u00a0A few talk about direct mail. \u00a0Yet, when you ask-<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Who is your target market<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>How do you reach them<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>And what message they have developed for that buyer<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It gets quiet. \u00a0So very quiet. \u00a0And in that very silence, unlike the silence between notes in music \u00a0which is in fact what makes it beautiful, \u00a0this silence is horrible. \u00a0It \u00a0means \u00a0you are wasting away whatever vision you had for your business.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">You can\u2019t implement any advertising, promotion or sales campaign without understanding those three areas, and have any \u00a0success, unless your service\/product is irresistible. Building a irresistible product is the best way to sell a lot, because, if its really irresistible, you don\u2019t need much of a plan&#8230; the market will find you.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">So.. ask yourself, Is my service\/product irresistible? \u00a0\u00a0No it\u2019s not. Can it be? Maybe but unlikely if you want to make money.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">So having recognized that 80% of small business owners don\u2019t have a marketing plan, and the reason for that was generally they didn\u2019t understand it\u2019s value, or they didn\u2019t know how to do it, or they didn\u2019t have the money to get it done. we developed a very good program for<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">business owners that is sold through Bayes Square LLC \u00a0and some ActionCOACH franchises.\u00a0We take the info you have on your current good customers&#8230; the type you want more of, and \u00a0we research up to 70 different possible commonalities in the group.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Premise is easy enough, your next customers will look like your current customers.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">( Play along at home if you Like)<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">List everything you can think of that businesses might \u00a0have in common. Start with at least 10 areas&#8230; \u00a0things like time in business, Industry type, locations, associations&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Now list your 10 or 20 best clients. \u00a0Now check mark the commonalities and the percentage as a total. If 75% of your good customers are part of a certain association, \u00a0and you are prospecting less than 75% of the time in areas besides that association, well, your behavior is dumb.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Marketing Crystal Ball service looks at up to 70 different commonalities than does the research to understand why prospects buy from you, and how to reach them&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">TA DA!<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">You have a targeted List<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">You know the message<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">You know how to reach them<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Frankly, for less than 2K \u00a0you would be an idiot not to have one done.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ask yourself&#8230; \u00a0if I had a targeted list, and a compelling message, and knew how to reach that list, how many additional customers would I sell this year? \u00a0Now how much more revenue would you have from the new customers?<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Now it that amount is anywhere above 20K you need to make a decision. Am I an idiot, or not?Our last client sold 24K in new revenue in the first month after it was finished. You might too, but only if you call me, or DIY. \u00a0Either way, \u00a0a marketing plan is the first thing you must do every year.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">One last thought. It\u2019s important. I know 2K can be a lot of money for very small businesses.
